School-issued iPads: distraction or study aid?

School-issued iPads are the latest in educator-led efforts to use current technology as a tool for learning.  But do they boost studying and organization, or hinder learning by supplying constant diversions in the classroom?  "It is great fun and very entertaining, but playing games (when I should be doing homework) has become a terrible habit.
