Former gang member now advocate of 'trauma-informed' care

Eighteen year-old Jesse Esparza was a gang member and foster youth who served time in the juvenile justice system.  Now he's a youth mentor with Fathers and Families of San Joaquin, a youth justice organization.  He spoke to Sean Shavers about treating juveniles in the system with a "trauma-informed" approach -- recognizing the symptoms and triggers of youth trauma and connecting them with help.  Read the interview on Richmond Pulse.jesse
