Prisoner Release/Reentry Due To COVID-19

Back in April, California began releasing incarcerated people to combat the high rates of COVID-19 inside prisons. However, many families with incarcerated loved ones feel the government is not equipped to properly help with the transition. “I think that the system is improving by releasing the inmates if they’re doing it properly … some of these people who are released, some of these inmates, really don’t have a stable housing program or a place to go after they leave. So they end up just coming back to jail anyway,” said Andrea Smith. Her husband is nearing the end of his 15 year sentence. Read the full story at Access Local TV.
