Why girls of color get suspended more than white girls

Researchers know Black and Native American female students aren't more likely to misbehave than any other child, yet they are three to five times more likely to get kicked out of school. A young writer recalls being suspended after washing fingerpaint off her hands with friends led to an accusation the mess they left behind was graffiti. "I just remember being so happy and having so much fun while working on a project and the next thing I knew, I was calling my mother from the principal’s office, letting her know I got suspended."
