Boyle Heights forum opens dialogue on issues surrounding LGBTQ youth

Creating safe places for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning youth within communities of color was the aim of a forum in Boyle Heights last Saturday.   The Los Angeles Police Department was represented by Assistant Chief Sandy Jo MacArthur, who pointed out that the LGBTQ community had been neglected by the LAPD, and promised that the department’s goal is to represent the entire community -- gay, straight, queer, and questioning.  Guests and conversations at the forum are described on Boyle Heights Beat.15 year-old Boyle Heights Beat reporter created this short photo documentary on community activist Leticia Macias, a local inspiration for queer youth of color.[vimeo=http://vimeo.com/lasfotosproject/leticia]http://vimeo.com/lasfotosproject/leticia
