Better gun control would make Boyle Heights safer

Boyle Heights has long contended with unacceptably high levels of gun violence and death.  Los Angeles has had twice the rate of firearm homicides as the national average, and a disproportionate number of crimes happens in low-income neighborhoods like Boyle Heights.  Gun control is one issue currently in the national spotlight in which Boyle Heights residents have high stakes.
