Plans for the future of 1st and Boyle lot set to move forward

What should the city of Los Angeles build on a long vacant lot in the heart of Boyle Heights? That question is still unanswered seven years after the city bought the property at the corner of East First Street and South Boyle Avenue where a gas station and laundromat used to stand. Residents at community workshops have suggested affordable housing, inexpensive parking and service-oriented business like grocery stores. Community members worry their ideas won't shape the city's final project.
