School intervention program should benefit all students

Two years ago the Merced Union High School District adopted a program to provide early, individualized support for students with academic challenges. Known as Response to Intervention (RtI), the approach has been gaining ground nationally since the early 2000’s. District officials credit the program with a 5 percent rise in graduation rates, while an informal survey conducted by We'Ced at Merced High, indicated mixed feelings among students as to whether they felt RtI was benefiting them.
