Trauma in Long Beach: problems, resources, results

National data suggests that about one-third of urban youth suffer some kind of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  A youth reporting team explored on the roots and effects of trauma in different settings in Long Beach, and produced a special series on with what they found. "Every type of violence you can imagine, I've probably seen it or know someone who's been affected by it." These stories, which cover the "migrating traumas" experienced by immigrants and refugees, an analysis of violence prevention programs and resources for victims, and a recent community forum, are all part of the series on Voicewaves.[youtube=http://youtu.be/bBrvnvP3hGI]
