The future of affordable housing is being decided now

Low-income residents of Long Beach are spending too great a portion of their earnings on rent, and yet live in inadequate conditions.  A local organization is working to renew the city's affordable housing plan.  The executive director of Housing Element spoke about substandard housing conditions, which are treated as a tradeoff for low rent.  The city's Eight Year Housing Element will soon propose that a percentage of new developments be offered to low-income families.  She spoke with Voicewaves.[youtube=http://youtu.be/VDXsQX5ElU4]
