Youth-led protests against gun violence have garnered widespread media attention following the Parkland shooting in February. But some are questioning why it’s taken so long for the public to care about gun violence when people of color in urban neighborhoods have never been given attention for their campaigns against gun violence. “People ask me about the Parkland shooting and I say I feel sad that those kids had to die.
