The East Side youth cookbook

"Mi Vida, Mi Salud Cookbook," features dozens of simple, nutritious recipes from members of the East Los Angeles YMCA. The cookbook has variations on standards like lentil soup, Mexican rice and pozole, and more creative options like kale pomegranate salad. "'My mom laughed cause she didn’t think I was going to be able to do it,' said Erick Flores, who thinks that young men should learn how to cook as a matter of 'gender equality.'"
