Should families teach kids how to use guns (safely)?

More than a third of American families say they own guns, and many of these parents say training their kids early in firearm makes them more cautious and prevents accidents. But some studies tell a different story — that access to a gun endangers kids and increases teens' risk of dying by suicide. "I think it’s okay for children to shoot guns if they’ve taken a safety course. I think there needs to be a certain level of maturity." A radio story on kids and guns in American households, and a video profiling one father who wants to keep his family’s hunting tradition by teaching his two daughters about gun safety, on Youth Radio.[youtube=https://youtu.be/gq-LZxqaHu0]
