Letters to the editor – flipping the script on media bias

Television and internet media are powerful forces in shaping our perspectives of the issues of our time, and they can perpetuate or disrupt dominant biases. Fresno's chapter of Boys and Men of Color is doing something to ensure their voices don't get drowned out. The 'I AM' poster project is based on the idea that, by circulating phrases and images defining themselves as individuals, young people can set themselves apart from the pervasive media stereotypes. "What can we do to overcome this harmful bias? It isn’t always easy, but one important step is to begin to take control of our own narrative.
