New bill proposes warning labels on sugary drinks

With an estimated 14 percent of Californians suffering from diabetes, some state lawmakers are taking on the beverage industry because sugary drinks are indisputably linked to the disease and its also-prevalent accomplice, obesity. Supporters of the Sugar-Sweetened Beverages Safety Warning Act (SB 203) are hopeful: polls say Californians overwhelmingly agree.
