New law allows drivers licenses for undocumented residents

Socorro Vázquez is one of 1.4 million undocumented drivers in California who could benefit from Assembly Bill 60, the Safe and Responsible Drivers Act. The law allows undocumented residents to obtain drivers licenses in California, as long as they get insurance. Vázquez has nervously driven around without a license for 17 years. “As I made a turn, the cop saw me. He said to me, ‘You don’t have a drivers license, do you?’ and I said, ‘No, I don’t have it.’ But I started to tremble because I had been stopped once before.” The full story is on Boyle Heights Beat.license
