Oakland awards young people with disabilities

At the Youth In Action Awards ceremony, teachers and program directors nominated young people with disabilities who were excelling in their studies or jobs. The awards are sponsored by The Oakland Mayor's Commission on Persons with Disabilities, and aim to encourage an often under-recognized group. "There is a tendency in our society for people who are able-bodied, not dealing with a disability, to think that anyone in a wheelchair is just stupid." Meet the award winners, on Youth Radio.
