Recology looks for input pending troubled facility's takeover

Recology is an employee-owned recycling and solid waste resource recovery company and prospective new owner of the Community Recycling and Resource Center, which has faced controversy following health and safety violations and the on-site deaths of two employees. Recology promises to overhaul operations, training, and possibly staff at the plant; in a public relations effort, the company asked for input from South Kern residents. But some residents are reticent, saying companies have come and gone that made similar promises but failed to deliver. “The presentation was fine but as they say, ‘words are carried away by the wind. All companies, when they want to move in, make promises but don’t follow through. It’s a pattern.” The story is on South Kern Sol.south-kern-compost-manufacturing-facility-in-taft-ca
