#BlackLivesMatter in Merced

The hashtag #BlackLivesMatter has become a rallying call online and in cities against police brutality in communities of color. In Merced, a #BlackLivesMatter demonstration held in December signalled that the issue resonates with Merced youth. Images from the protest can be found on We'Ced's Facebook page, and two young people explained why they are joining the movement for change. "I’m really tired of the injustice done to families of color. I have friends and family who have been part of the police force. My grandfather was a police officer here in Merced. More importantly, I have Black friends who have been bullied by the police. It needs to stop." More of their words are on We'Ced.stop hate
