Fresno's recyclers come out of the shadows

The people pushing shopping carts through Fresno’s neighborhoods, collecting bottles, cans, and other recyclables, are not necessarily homeless. Fresno's recyclers are an enterprising mix of people trying to make ends meet, some of who say they can $500-600 a week exchanging discarded materials for cash.  But the business has its hurdles.  "Those who use their shopping carts to work late nights, walking up and down alleys and curbsides to avoid run-ins with law enforcement, say it’s an honest living and better than some of the alternatives."
