Mixtec parents cook up community

A community cooking course in San Luis Obispo is doing more for parents than providing cooking and parenting classes; it’s also a place for indigenous people to learn Spanish. The cooking classes became a social outlet in addition to standard monthly meetings, say organizers. “I have noticed my families are more involved in the parent meetings... it’s been growing since I started doing different things, like the cooking activities.” Read more on South Kern Soul.
