District shares plan for Salton Sea sustainability

Environmental leaders and residents gathered at the Environmental Health Summit to learn about the sustainability plan being proposed by the Imperial Irrigation District. The Salton Sea possesses the largest capacity of geothermal energy in the country, and the agency wants to harness that with new biofuel, solar energy, and wind power projects.  They are seeking support from the community and say the initiative would spur new jobs and other economic development.  Read about the sea and sustainability ideas on Coachella Unincorporated.
