A female recruit weighs risks from inside the military

Maya Escobar reconsidered her plan to enlist in the U.S. military when her family opposed the decision, saying females in the army face a "different set of risks."  "I started noticing news reports about  women getting raped in the military. Sometimes their officers didn’t even believe them. I always pictured the enemy being on the other side."  Outraged, Maya shared her story on Youth Radio.
