Living with diabetes as a teen

Teenagers with diabetes have to grow up fast healthwise.  When she found out she had Type 2 diabetes as a teen, Ana Llimit wasn't prepared to change her life to suit the disease.  Throughout her childhood she craved and consumed high-fat and high-sugar foods.  For a while after her diagnosis, she didn't take her disease seriously, continuing the same food and lifestyle habits as before.  Then she found out there were serious consequences of letting diabetes go uncontrolled.  “The doctor told me, 'Finding out you have diabetes is like getting a job with no pay and no vacation.' That was a reality check for me."  Her story is a feature article on We’Ced Youth Magazine Issue #3, and is online at We'Ced.diabetes
