The people's budget: residents help city divvy funds

A group called the Participatory Budget Project is rallying citizens across the nation to take control of their city's allocation of funding each year.  The idea is that community members meet and brainstorm, then vote on proposed budget ideas.  But city governments must agree to incorporate this process into their budget decisions, a contract that Long Beach residents wish to effect.  Find the story and a video interview about the Participatory Budget Project, on  Voicewaves.[youtube=http://youtu.be/n1jlQl4LNJo]
