Saving a culture

Not all families celebrate Thanksgiving by having a big dinner with their loved ones.  For some groups, Thanksgiving has deep and complicated historical connotations, and their observance of the holiday involves different customs, which recall a less rosy picture of pilgrims and a truer one of Native Americans.  Mission Indians, a tribe native to Long Beach, bring a different aspect to the holiday, reflecting on nature, a loss of culture and the oppression that they have survived. Hear about what they are mourning and celebrating on Thanksgiving, on Voicewaves.[youtube=http://youtu.be/fyHFzmZfBS4]
