Deported breakdancer finds purpose serving youth in Cambodia

After spending 8 years in prison for an armed robbery he committed at the age of 18, Tuy Sobil, an undocumented immigrant, was deported to Cambodia, leaving a son behind.  Eventually Sobil reinvented himself, using the passion he had for breakdancing before he joined a Crips gang -- he founded Tiny Toones. The organization teaches breakdancing, as well as academics like history, language, and computer science, to Cambodian youth.  Long Beach reporters reached Sobil on Skype, and asked him to reflect on his mistakes and his promise to the kids he works with. "I want each child at Tiny Toones to take advantage of their education and become what they want to become. All we can do is offer to help them but we can’t make them who they want to be unless they fight for it."  Find the interview and find a Tiny Toones music video, on Voicewaves.[youtube=http://youtu.be/ibam-zfpRog]
