LAPD's Cadet Program gives leadership opportunities to Boyle Heights youth

A number of teens in the Boyle Heights area are deciding to pursue careers in law enforcement, beginning with the Los Angeles Police Department's Cadet Program, an 18-week course in leadership, physical fitness, law enforcement education and discipline.  While many adults think the program is a positive one, by linking youth together with career goals, others are dubious that serving in the police force will bring the changes that their community needs.  “In this community, a lot of things tend to be not so black and white as the police see them." Read more about the Cadet Program and its graduates, on Boyle Heights Beat.cadets-1
