Governor Brown signs bills to relax strict school discipline policies

Student activists in Boyle Heights and elsewhere have fought for years against what they view as unjust school discipline practices, which often included costly "truancy" tickets for  students who arrived late to school. Their concerns reached the desk of Governor Jerry Brown in school reform bills last week.
