Leaders of the California State Select Committee on the Status of Boys and Men of Color said it was important that they gathered in Coachella. The hearing gave young residents a chance to hear ideas from other communities -- and stories from their older counterparts about incarceration and family issuesState Assembly Committee on Status of Boys and Men of Color Hearing in Coachella. In the Eastern Coachella Valley, 98.6% of males under the age of 24 are of boys and men of color.
