The wide open west side of Long Beach

The West side of Long Beach is already isolated from the rest of the city. It is surrounded by freeways, an expanding rail yard and the Port of Long Beach. The lack of green/open space magnifies the  negative environmental impacts as well as the high level of air pollutants near schools and residential neighborhoods. With a possible expansion of the 710 Freeway and rail yard, many people feel it is important to voice concern against such projects.
