How John Muir Health Got Vaccines Across Laotian Language Divide

John Muir Health isn’t letting language barriers prevent the provider from getting COVID vaccinations to Laotian residents in Richmond, California. The clinic has set aside specific hours for the Laotian community, and retained an interpreter on site to ensure no language issues arise. “In January, the vaccine supply was rather limited, and there were trends across the Bay Area and across the country of people with better access getting vaccinated at a much higher rate. We wanted to do outreach to communities that are traditionally marginalized and help them access the vaccine,” said Dr. Kishore Nath, the administrator of the John Muir Mobile Health Clinic.
