The pandemic has impacted all of us in unique ways, and we’ve each found our own ways to cope. For Cal State Long Beach student Cristian Estrada, working out has greatly boosted his mental health. “I started working out to improve my physical appearance so that I could come out of the pandemic as a new-and-improved version of myself, but now I feel like it’s what I usually do to de-stress and ease a lot of my anxiety,” he said. Still, others have found comfort in journaling. 23-year-old Trisha Oquendo started a memory journal “where I wrote things down like what I liked about each day. It actually helped me stay productive and become more aware of things around me in my life.” To read more about how Long Beach youth are coping with quarantine, visit VoiceWaves.
