Council Reverses Hilltop Decision, Picks New Location For Safe Parking Program

In February, the Richmond, California city council voted to change the site of their year-long safe parking program that will provide services to homeless people with vehicles. The city had initially planned on using the Hilltop Mall parking lot, but after pushback from the neighborhood, moved to change the location to Civic Center. However, the mayor was less than pleased with the vote, stating “All the arguments people have given for not using Hilltop, [apply] more to this site.” To read the full breakdown of the meeting, visit Richmond Pulse.
