A New Phenomenon Called ‘Gentefication’

In Boyle Heights, residents have coined a new name for community members who leave the area, then come back with different ideas: gentefication. Some believe this process contributes to rising living costs, while others think it can start a renaissance in Boyle Heights. “You know if the person comes back and they have the same mindset as a gentrifier who’s never lived there before, then it’s just as bad.” Read more at Boyle Heights Beat.
