What it’s like to be a teen farmworker

The child of a farmworker in California’s Central Valley — accustomed to sleeping late — worked alongside her moth in the fields this summer. The difficulty of the work and conditions impossible to describe, Maria focuses on her mom, and her goal.  “I work because I love school. It’s a way to make my education possible.” This story was published for the New York Times by We’Ced, with Youth Radio.
