Housing squeeze in Boyle Heights makes for tough choices

Rising rents and a lack of affordable housing throughout Los Angeles paints a stark picture in Boyle Heights where some residents must spend upwards of 70 percent of their income to pay the rent each month. Advocates are working to educate renters about their rights. “We want to make sure the majority of our Boyle Heights’ families whose residences are protected under rent control law know that they have rights that protect them from unwarranted evictions and rent hikes.” Read more at Boyle Heights Beat.
