Youth organizers reflect on a year of leadership and growth

At one time, Yaritza Ally Garcia, a 17-year-old high school student in Long Beach, couldn’t speak in front of a crowd. In an interview with a fellow community organizer, Garcia reflects on how she found new confidence when she started speaking out to urge her community to do more for young people of color. “People may think that we don’t care about our school, our education, or about voting.
