Richmond’s youngest city council member on housing, hospitals and youth

At 26 years old, Melvin Willis became Richmond’s youngest city council member in this recent election. Willis said his years working as a community organizer made him want to run for office and push for affordable housing and more services for youth. “I’ve been talking to community members at their doors, they say the reason we have so much crime and violence is because we don’t have enough youth programs and services within the community.” Read the story at Richmond Pulse.
