Merced County adopts social justice approach to improve community health

There are not enough doctors in Merced County, and access to health clinics is limited. County officials are collaborating with residents, community leaders and others to address key obstacles to wellness, such as the prevalence of preventable chronic diseases and substance abuse. “We found that some community problems are so deep and consistent that many residents didn’t view it as a problem that could be fixed anymore."
