To kneel or stand — Long Beach students chime in on national anthem protest

Student athletes at Long Beach Polytechnic High School, a nationally renowned sports high school, weigh in on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s decision to kneel during the national anthem to protest inequality. The interviews lead reporter Nia Thompson to reflect on her own views of patriotism and nationality. “Just like that, I was reminded that patriotism doesn’t always stem from the stereotypical-conservative-southerner persona I narrow-mindedly was clinging to.” Read more at VoiceWaves.
