For me, as a young Latina, this election is personal

Before she cast her first ballot in a presidential election, 20-year-old Lesly Juarez prepared as much as possible to evaluate the propositions and candidates and translate that information to her family members who don’t speak English. Juarez said her family has instilled in her the importance of voting, even her 98-year-old grandmother who never attended school or learned to write. “This election and these issues have connected me to my roots and brought me closer to the adult members of my family as I realized just how stressful Election Day could be for them.” Read more at Boyle Heights Beat.
