Arvin’s ‘National Night Out’ fosters police-community relations

Residents of Arvin, in Kern County, set aside fears and biases to gather with their families for a ‘National Night Out’ event hosted by city leaders. Youth reporter Nora Ramirez writes that some residents don’t trust uniformed officers because they fear deportation. “I felt the event was successful in its goal: building better relationships between police and the people they serve.” Read the story at South Kern Sol.
