Youth advocacy scores a win in Arvin with new park

Skateboarders in Arvin are celebrating a decision to rebuild a skatepark that was taken down years ago because of safety issues. The decision comes after efforts by local youth, who say the city offers few alternatives for outdoor activities and who showed up in large numbers at public meetings to advocate for the park. "The youth showed up to three council meetings straight, and they stayed throughout the entire thing. There was a group of twelve that stayed consistently throughout." The story is on South Kern Sol.skate
