Demonstrators call for new Richmond campus to provide fair wage and job security

Locals demonstrated to demand that construction and operation of a new UC Berkeley biotech campus at Richmond Bay will benefit the city’s residents. Members of the Raise Up Richmond coalition, supporting a set of recommendations to ensure local hiring and fair wages, also pointed to job security, local investment in youth, and housing as issues as part of a community benefits package to be negotiated with University officials. "[One organizer] called the proposed UC Berkeley biotech campus 'a project that can make or break Richmond.'" The report is on Richmond Pulse.wages
