Residents get help with health insurance, in 14 languages

About 100 Contra Costa County residents turned out at a free health insurance enrollment fair in Richmond in January. The organization Healthy Richmond and other partners wanted to combat two major factors behind low enrollment rates in Covered California and Medi-Cal: language and cultural fears. Volunteers helped to translate 14 different languages including Nepalese, Cantonese, Spanish, Hindi and Vietnamese. "There’s a lot of anxiety and fear coming from just the unknown and feeling isolated because no one speaks your language." The report is on Richmond Pulse.health enroll
