Activists call on courts for action on DACA and DAPA

In November 2014, President Obama announced an expanded version of his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and a new program (DAPA) permitting the relief for the undocumented parents of U.S. born children or permanent residents. But after two courts in Texas challenged the programs as unconstitutional, the case will now be taken up by the Federal Supreme Court. What does this mean for undocumented Californians and their families? “As a resident of South Kern, I know that DACA and DAPA will help so many people… Law abiding undocumented immigrants will be able to contribute their communities openly.” One youth joined political activists in supporting the programs, and wrote about it for South Kern Sol.
