Growing up in a health desert

Not only is there no hospital in Thermal, Ca., there are very few Spanish-speaking physicians to serve the needs of the growing Latino population. One young resident has taken this as inspiration to become a doctor. "Recently I shadowed a doctor in Coachella who grew up in our community and speaks Spanish.
