A media strategy to challenge stereotypes about youth of color

Fresno's chapter of Boys and Men of Color works for the interests of young men of color in the realm of policy, but the group has also engages youth to lead and advocate for themselves.  Organized social media campaigns give young people a chance to challenge how they are represented in the mainstream media. Fresno's BMOC launched a coordinated action to get their policy goals in the newspaper. "I know I can relate to the majority of the youth in Fresno. I come from a home without a father and with gang ties... This is why I joined the effort to create the new police youth advisory panel."  Read more letters-to-the-editor from BMOC Fresno, on The Know.BHC Jacque copy
