A few ideas to rename Robert E. Lee Elementary

Residents discussed possible name replacements for Robert E. Lee Elementary School at a Long Beach Board of Education meeting. People of different ethnicities had different recommendations, but all agreed that the school’s name should reflect the diversity of the student body, and could even provide a role model to inspire kids. “It’s important… that youth have a connection, that they are able to really look at local heroes who have made a difference in their local community. ‘Hey, that person came from my community, that person made a difference, that could possibly be me in the future.'” The video was produced by Voicewaves.
